Kitchen (7 points)

The kitchen carries most of the harbourage in a domestic infestation because it combines heat, moisture and food residue.

  • Inside the top corner of every wall cupboard.
  • Both hinge recesses of under-sink units.
  • Behind and beneath the fridge and freezer motor housing.
  • Void behind the kickboard, dotted every 30 cm.
  • The gap between the cooker and its cabinet run.
  • Pipework entries under the sink and behind the dishwasher.
  • The top edge of skirting boards, not the floor line.

Bathroom and utility (3 points)

Damp voids sustain populations even when the kitchen has been treated.

  • Behind the toilet cistern and around the soil pipe collar.
  • Under the bath panel at the pipe run.
  • Behind the washing machine and around the waste trap.

Entry and transit (2 points)

Intercept re-introduction from communal areas, bin stores and drains.

Everything below assumes a professional-strength bait — our cockroach gel kits ship with the applicator and placement map referenced here.

  • Door thresholds, airbricks and vent surrounds.
  • Meter cupboards, riser voids and boiler cupboards.

Dosage and spacing

Use pea-sized dots of roughly 0.25 g, spaced every 30 cm along a run. Twenty to thirty dots covers a standard kitchen round. Reapply consumed dots within 48 hours during the first week, then check weekly.

Common mistakes

Large blobs on open surfaces dry out and get cleaned away; small dots inside voids stay palatable. Never spray insecticide over or near a bait point, and never place bait where a pet or child can reach it.
