Ant killer that destroys the nest, not just the trail
Most ant killer products kill the workers you can see. That clears the trail for a day or two, then a fresh column appears from the same nest. Pest Tech Gel works the other way round: foragers feed on the bait, carry it back underground and share it with the brood and the queen, so the colony collapses instead of relocating.
- Nest transfer — workers feed the queen for you
- Trails usually thin out within 24 to 36 hours
- Odour-free, no fumes, no spraying near food surfaces
- Free UK delivery, rated 4.3/5 from 514 Amazon reviews

Ant killer types compared
How gel bait compares with the ant killer formats sold in UK supermarkets and hardware shops.
| Option | Kills the nest? | Indoor use | Timescale | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pest Tech Gel ant bait | Yes — carried to the queen | Yes, applied out of reach | 24 to 36 hours | Best choice for an indoor trail from an unseen nest |
| Aerosol / contact spray | No | Fumes near food surfaces | Instant on contact only | Trail returns once the spray dries |
| Insecticidal powder | Partly | Messy on worktops and floors | Days | Better outdoors, along walls and paving |
| Liquid bait stations | Yes, if fed | Yes | Days to weeks | Slower, and easy for ants to bypass |
Why sprays and powders keep failing
Contact killers and repellent barriers destroy the foraging workers but never reach the brood. A mature garden or wall-void colony simply sends more workers, and heavy spraying can split the nest into satellite colonies that are harder to clear.
Where to put ant killer gel
Pea-sized dots directly beside the trail: along skirting edges, at the entry point where the column comes indoors, under the sink where pipework passes through, and beside door thresholds. Never wipe the trail away first — the pheromone path is what leads workers to the bait.
What happens after you apply
Expect more visible ants for the first few hours as workers recruit to the bait. That is the transfer working. Numbers drop sharply over the next 24 to 36 hours, and the nest is usually silent within a few days.
